Music Video Finale

P2T6 Focus from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

The storyline relates to the lyrics because I matched the lyrics to my actions in the storyline. For example when it says "I'm over here doing what I like, Im over here working day and night." the storyline is me playing soccer which matches the lyrics because i'm doing what I like.  Next in my storyline I am wiping a table then I am exhausted, that matches my lyrics because I am working my wiping the table and it shows be tired which shows that I was working a lot. Overall I think that I matched the lyrics to my actions well.

In the music video I have many fast-edit montage sequences. My favorite would have to be when it says "I'm over here doing what I like, Im over here working day and night." In this scene the part when it says "I'm over here doing what I like," It shows me juggling a soccer ball (doing what I like) then it quickly changes to the part when it says "Im over here working day and night." In this small section of the lyrics we managed to squeeze 3 shots into that. One of me whipping a window and then the second shot is just the first shot but flipped so it represents day and night. The third shot is me showing my exhaustion which explains how I have been working so much.

This music video showcases my best work because it is the end of the year and I have all of my knowledge from the school year. I can edit/create and awesome music video using techniques that I have learned this year. Some techniques I can use are interesting/engaging shot types like birds eye or low and high angle. Some other techniques I can use is awesome, fast editing using iMovie. Another technique I can use would be editing pictures to make them look amazing in photoshop.

Animated Life Lessons

P2T8 Friends Overcome Issues from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.
My teammates personal character traits are that Taylor is organized, neat but she is also a clean freak. Cephas is humorous, exaggerated, never knows when to stop and he over does things. Coral is shy, quiet, serious and the exact opposite of Cephas. Ella is clumsy, weird, awkward, loud and not very good at things. Our story exaggerates who we all are because in the story we all come together as a group and we work together which is what we do in real life. Also in real life Taylor really is organized and neat, Cephas really is humorous, Coral really is quiet and shy and Ella really is clumsy.

I use humor in my story because I have lots of humorous relatable things. Some things aren't just humorous because its funny but also because it is so relatable. The message or life lesson relates to people because we all feel like something is wrong with us or we have bad characteristics sometimes but it doesn't matter what other people think of you as long as you like it nobody else matters. Also if you are scared to do something that you want to do because your scared someone will think weirdly of you, you should do it anyway because it doesn't matter what they think.

My teams level of productivity was productivity was pretty high when everybody was working together and when we knew what to do and how to do it. The biggest challenge during production was to get everyone in the group to commit to the project. Also to get everyone to take their own time to come in at recesses and lunches to work on the project. The best moment during production was when we first started animating. It was at this time because it was when we all came together and showed each other how to do things and then we each started working confidently and productivity.

Character Development

I am kind and I care about how others feel and how what I say may affect someone else. I also work hard for the things I want. If something is challenging and hard I wont give up, but I will keep trying and trying until I get it. Some humorous and relatable imperfections I have are that sometimes I tend to be very lazy at home. For example if someone were to ask me to do something I wouldn't do it right away. I would probably do something else and then when they asked me again and I had to do it then I would do it.

The character traits I plan to exaggerate while animating myself would be to be very lazy and always tired. I could do this by maybe slouching my character so that I would look more tired. I also would make myself look tired by whenever someone ask me something I slouch and say no in a whiny voice. Also I would be extremely nice and helpful to anyone that needs it. I could do this by making me always nice and not exclusive.

The step-by-step process to creating an animated character is to first put your cut out picture of yourself into the animation frames section in photoshop. Second, select your layer right click and press duplicate layer. Third, with your new layer make a copy of your frame so that their is two frames and in the first frame have the first layer showing and in the second frame have the second layer showing. Fourth on the second layer and frame click file puppet warp and add pins so that you can move your character and start animating. Only make a slight movement so that it looks smooth. Fifth, repeat step two and then step four until you are pleased with your work. Then save as a jpg to your folder. I like my animation because it looks somewhat lifelike and it was hard to do but I did it.

.MOV Film Festival

Friendship, learning, patience, determination, and appreciation are my keywords. They connect with my audience because first of all friendship is something that all of us have experienced and my audience knows how friendship is a very important thing in life. Second of all, the keyword learning connects to my audience because my audience is a GT class and in GT we learn many new things every day! Third of all, the keyword patience connects to my audience because sometimes when we help others on things they don't understand it takes a long time for them to understand and we need to be patient with them. Fourth of all, the keyword determination connects to my audience because in this GT class we have to be determined to finish the work because the work is always challenging. Finally, the keyword appreciation connects to my audience because my audience should appreciate that we have the opportunity to learn in a friendly environment. All of my keywords connect to the audience.

My overall message is to teach people to make new friends and always help them and be patient with them because they could help you also. Another message would be determination because even if you keep messing up or doing it wrong, if you do it enough you will start to get better and know things you couldn't have known if you had just given up. Another message is to appreciate the help you get because even if it seems like the help isn't really helping you that much you should appreciate it because that person is taking time away from his/her schedule to help you. Also another message is to be happy with what you have. Even if you don't have much in life you should be happy that you at least have something.

The biggest challenge my team faced was to find a time to film that works for everybody. We all had separate sports or things to do so we had to either work around it or have some people in the group skip their plans so that we could get the filming done. When one person was available the other two weren't and when the other two were available the other one person was not. We all had to be very determined and flexible to get the work done. In the end we all found a time that worked for everybody and we got all the filming done and even had a little extra time in the end!

Tiny Spherical Worlds

The point of composite images is to make the audience interested in the picture because a composite picture is not a real photo but multiple photos placed together fictionally to create an unreal but interesting scene. One picture is not enough because if it is one picture then nothing would be interesting or fiction in it. If it were multiple pictures put together fictionally it would create something that you wouldn't be able to see in one picture. Also a composite picture can create many more different emotions than one picture can. Composite pictures are much more creative, interesting and fictional than one picture.

Polar panos and spherical panos are very different. First of all, polar panos look as if there is a tiny world inside the picture. Spherical panos look like you are on the world looking up into the sky. Also polar panos take more steps to be created then Spherical panos. Also polar panos make it look like you are in the sky looking down on a world, but spherical panos make it look like you are on the world. Overall, polar panos and spherical panos are very different.

My finished tiny worlds are very convincing. They are very convincing because I used the stamp tool which helps me to connect the edges to make it look like its one whole world. The stamp tool is a tool that allows you to copy one part of the picture and stamp it in another place. I also made sure that there was sky at the top of every world so that it didn't look like the world ended at something like a tree or a mountain. Overall I think that my tiny worlds are very convincing.

Hockney Style Joiners

David Hockney's photomontages are different from my photomontages because his are more landscapes and scenes but mine are objects such as a building. His landscapes include things such as a dessert road or trees and things like that. My school photomontage was of a person and my final photomontage was of a building. Also David Hockney's photomontages are different then mine because his are more abstract and odd and mine are more realistic. Another thing is that his contain more photos than my photomontages.

Images can send a positive or negative message in many ways. You can send a positive message with showing a picture of somebody helping someone else or happy things like the sun or a flower. You can send a negative message by showing a picture of negative things like someone smoking or maybe a weapon or something inappropriate. Also bright pictures with nature in them also send a positive message. Although dark pictures of alleys and dark forests can sometimes send a negative message.

The message I intend my audience to see is in the church. The message that the church sends is that you have to have faith even hen it seems like there is no reason too. This is a positive message because it says to be faithful and to love your life. This also is intended to make the audience feel happy and faithful because I know when I look a church I seem to feel a little bit happier and I have more faith in my life. Also I intend my audience to see that everything happens for a reason which is said a lot at church's!

2016 Aspirations

I have many goals that I will attain in 2016. One of them is to get to one hundred juggles in soccer. I hope to attain this because juggling can improve ball control and it would be awesome to get too one hundred! I also hope to run the Ha'ena to Hanalei eight mile race again and beat my time I had last year. I wish to do this because it would improve my running and it would keep me moving up! My third would be to get all or mostly A's in school. My fourth goal would be to go to the beach at least once a week because when I go to the beach it makes me a happier person. My fifth and final goal would be to go to Tahiti again and see my family. This is my last goal because I haven't seen my family that lives there in a long time so I want to see them.

My main goal of 2016 is to go to Tahiti over the summer or for Christmas with my family. I want to do this because I haven't seen my family that lives there in a very long time and I love it there. This is the most important goal to me because it is the hardest to achieve. Also family is very important to me because they are always there for me. Finally it is important because this would be like a reunion because all of my other cousins that do not live there are planning on coming too and it would be nice to see them also.

The steps I will do to ensure success of going to Tahiti over Christmas break would be too talk too my family about it and make sure they approve and agree with me. I would also make sure that there would be enough money to complete this trip. Thirdly to ensure success I would talk to my family in Tahiti and make sure that they are aware of what's going on and make sure that they approve. The fourth thing I would do to ensure success would be too set an exact date of when we will go and come back from Tahiti. The fifth step would be too buy the plane tickets to and from Tahiti. The final step would be to go to Tahiti!

Scratch Game Design

User experience influenced my game because when I was creating my game I pictured myself as the player to improve, change, and even create my game! It also influenced my game because I didn't just only want to make a game, but a fun and interesting one! I want my players to be engaged in my game and have them want to keep playing or play again! I want my players to understand my game and know how to play when they click the start button. I hope that everyone that plays my game will have a fun, interesting, and engaging while playing my game!

There were many different and similar games! All of the games I played had a scoreboard, a timer and sprites. Although all the games had their own way of the sprites to chase each other. For example, some games had it where you had to make it a certain amount of time without touching the chaser and each couple of seconds you score and when you touch the chaser you lose. Others had it where you had to make a certain amount of points before the time runs out. Overall I thought that each game was fun and interesting!

My best code was my sprite to bounce up and come back down with gravity. It made my sprite more realistic and fun to play with. My most difficult bug fix was when I was trying to make my sprite move with the arrows but it wasn’t working. I double-checked it to see what was wrong but everything looked fine. I then realized that I had made one small mistake and it caused me to redo the whole code.

Invention Commercial

P2T4_Invention from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

My teams main goal was to finish on time, have fun while filming and create an engaging, creative and fun video! We wanted to finish on time because deadlines are very important in life and practicing them now will just make it easier in a few years! We did accomplish this goal of turning it in on time. We turned the video, visual plan and b-roll in on time. We wanted to have fun while filming because if we didn't have fun then we would be bored while filming and our video would probably come out boring as well. We accomplished this goal goal of having fun while filming! Our last goal was to create a engaging, creative and fun video. We wanted to do this so that our audience would have fun while watching our video!

Our best team moment was about half way through filming at the pier. This was the best team moment because at this time we were filming all are shots in time and we were productively working together. We were working together to make some final films and audio at this time also. We also had the creative idea to even add another shot of us all jumping off the pier to the end of the video to make it more fun and creative. All together we worked together productively and efficiently all the time.

During this post-production editing my whole team had a part. I (ella) was mainly in charge of the audio and putting the audio on top of the b-roll. I was also in charge of the songs. Malia mainly did the cutting and splitting of videos. For example if there was a video that was too long she would be in charge of cutting it shorter. Seline was mainly in charge of the transitions and the final cuts needed. We all worked together to create a creative and fun video!

Composition Scavenger Hunt

P2T4_Composition_2015 from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo

I think that leading lines is the most important composition technique. I think this because first of all it is the most confusing technique and second of all it is the most fascinating and engaging technique. It is the most confusing technique because it is hard for people to under stand that the lines have to be starting at the camera and leading our eyes to the subject. It is the most engaging and fascinating technique because it is very unusual and interesting to look at. It is engaging because the lines are leading you or guiding you to the subject.

Leading Lines was the most difficult technique. This was the most difficult technique because you have to have lines starting at the camera perfectly leading to the subject. You could use it more by whatever your taking a picture of just have lines leading to the thing your taking a picture. Also if you are taking a picture of just one thing or subject, like in modeling, just have lines leading to the subject. Also if you find lines that would be perfect for a leading lines picture just place any subject at the end of the lines.

My team's number was 4. My teammates were Seline, Malia and me, Ella. The techniques we did were birds eye, ants eye, low angle, high angle, flat angle, macro, ground level, forced foreground, point of view, and eye level. For birds eye Seline was the one talking. For ants eye me (Ella) and Seline were the ones talking and Malia was the one in the shot. For low angle Malia and Seline were the ones talking. For high angle I was the one talking and Malia was in the shot. For flat angle Malia and Seline were the ones talking and I was in the shot. For macro Me and Seline were the ones talking. For ground level I was the one talking. For forced foreground me and Seline were the ones talking and Malia was in the shot. For point of view me and Malia were the ones talking. For eye level me and Seline were the ones talking and Seline was in the shot.

Cracking The Code

I do think that everyone should learn to code. I think this because coding is an important nessicity in life. Coding is also important to learn because it is basically the base of all computer-related things and now days these things have becoming more and more used and popular. Another reason everyone should learn to code is because later on in college they may talk about coding, no matter what field your in, and if you have already learned about it, it would be a piece of cake! Those are the reasons I think that everyone should know how to code.

My first experience with programing was in 6th grade at Hanalei Elementary School. We did a few exercises with characters like Elsa, Anna, Zombies and much more! We had to insert blocks such as turn left, turn right or move ahead. We also watched a few inspiring videos with famous people such as the creator of Twitter, the creator of Facebook and even an professional NBA player! At first I thought that it was going to be super hard but once I started to get the hang of it, it was fun and not to hard! I loved coding for the first time!

If I could create a game it would be a game called duck duck goose. In this game there are ducks flying by with a random goose in the line of ducks. You have to hit or tap the goose. When you do this the ducks start to move faster and faster as you go. When you pass each level you get coins and with those coins you can buy different types of geese and ducks or a different bat to hit the goose with. When you hit a duck you loose a coin. This is my game that I would create.

My Humorous Monolouge

BeckE_Comedy from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

I have learned many things from this project. First I learned how to work a Lumix camera: how to record or how to enhance the lighting. The second thing I learned was how to create a funny joke: how to create a punchline or material for the joke. The third thing I learned was how to import media into an imovie event. The fourth thing I learned was how to increase or decrease the size of the timeline in imovie. Finally I learned how to create a gif in photoshop.

Padding is extra footage at the begining and end of your video to make sure that nothing is cut off of your video. Padding also makes your videos flow together smoother. Padding your clips is crucial because if you don't pad your clips something like audio or action could be cut of. This is important because you may have to go back and redo the clip if there is no padding connected. Padding clips is a crucial thing to include in a video.

My biggest weakness was time to film the b-roll. This was a big weakness because without time you can't get anything done. I didn't have time because I am busy everyday of the week with soccer and other family things. Another weakness was the people in my video had almost no time. My strengths were experience with imovie editing. I have experience because in my school last year they taught us all about imovie. Ways for me to improve would be to plan a time to film the b-roll clips or to plan a time to film with others in the video.

Comedy Writing

A sense of humor is an important character trait. If you have a sense of humor you make people laugh and laughing is one of the things you need to do to have a great life. Also people with a sense of humor can cheer other people up if they are feeling down. That is important because making people happy is awesome! Finally it is important because if you have happy laughing people next to you, you will probably be happy as well!

There are many tips in writing a humorous narrative. One tip that I think is important in writing comedy is to make your writing relatable. If its not relatable people won't get it and they wont think it is as funny as you might. Another tip is to make sure its not to complicated for people to understand. Pretend that you are trying to get a kindergartener to understand it. Third tip is to use expression when talking. Fourth tip is to make sure your writing isn't offensive or inappropriate for anyone. Your final tip is to make sure your writing is actually funny! Test it out on a friend! Read it to them and ask for there honest opinion and suggestions.

My comedic monologue is basically about my mom telling me to clean my room. In the first and second line when it says "I hate it when my mom tells me to clean my room or make my bed because people are coming over for dinner. It’s like oh I didn't realize we would be eating off the floor in my room." it is funny because we won't be eating off the floor and because my room doesn't need to look nice if people are coming over because we wouldn't be in my room. In the last two lines when it says "Why can’t I get paid to clean my own room? I clean my room sometimesActually I never clean my room and I never will so never mind." it is funny because I state that I clean my room sometimes then I admit that I actually never clean my room and that I never will.
