Scratch Game Design

User experience influenced my game because when I was creating my game I pictured myself as the player to improve, change, and even create my game! It also influenced my game because I didn't just only want to make a game, but a fun and interesting one! I want my players to be engaged in my game and have them want to keep playing or play again! I want my players to understand my game and know how to play when they click the start button. I hope that everyone that plays my game will have a fun, interesting, and engaging while playing my game!

There were many different and similar games! All of the games I played had a scoreboard, a timer and sprites. Although all the games had their own way of the sprites to chase each other. For example, some games had it where you had to make it a certain amount of time without touching the chaser and each couple of seconds you score and when you touch the chaser you lose. Others had it where you had to make a certain amount of points before the time runs out. Overall I thought that each game was fun and interesting!

My best code was my sprite to bounce up and come back down with gravity. It made my sprite more realistic and fun to play with. My most difficult bug fix was when I was trying to make my sprite move with the arrows but it wasn’t working. I double-checked it to see what was wrong but everything looked fine. I then realized that I had made one small mistake and it caused me to redo the whole code.

Invention Commercial

P2T4_Invention from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

My teams main goal was to finish on time, have fun while filming and create an engaging, creative and fun video! We wanted to finish on time because deadlines are very important in life and practicing them now will just make it easier in a few years! We did accomplish this goal of turning it in on time. We turned the video, visual plan and b-roll in on time. We wanted to have fun while filming because if we didn't have fun then we would be bored while filming and our video would probably come out boring as well. We accomplished this goal goal of having fun while filming! Our last goal was to create a engaging, creative and fun video. We wanted to do this so that our audience would have fun while watching our video!

Our best team moment was about half way through filming at the pier. This was the best team moment because at this time we were filming all are shots in time and we were productively working together. We were working together to make some final films and audio at this time also. We also had the creative idea to even add another shot of us all jumping off the pier to the end of the video to make it more fun and creative. All together we worked together productively and efficiently all the time.

During this post-production editing my whole team had a part. I (ella) was mainly in charge of the audio and putting the audio on top of the b-roll. I was also in charge of the songs. Malia mainly did the cutting and splitting of videos. For example if there was a video that was too long she would be in charge of cutting it shorter. Seline was mainly in charge of the transitions and the final cuts needed. We all worked together to create a creative and fun video!

Composition Scavenger Hunt

P2T4_Composition_2015 from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo

I think that leading lines is the most important composition technique. I think this because first of all it is the most confusing technique and second of all it is the most fascinating and engaging technique. It is the most confusing technique because it is hard for people to under stand that the lines have to be starting at the camera and leading our eyes to the subject. It is the most engaging and fascinating technique because it is very unusual and interesting to look at. It is engaging because the lines are leading you or guiding you to the subject.

Leading Lines was the most difficult technique. This was the most difficult technique because you have to have lines starting at the camera perfectly leading to the subject. You could use it more by whatever your taking a picture of just have lines leading to the thing your taking a picture. Also if you are taking a picture of just one thing or subject, like in modeling, just have lines leading to the subject. Also if you find lines that would be perfect for a leading lines picture just place any subject at the end of the lines.

My team's number was 4. My teammates were Seline, Malia and me, Ella. The techniques we did were birds eye, ants eye, low angle, high angle, flat angle, macro, ground level, forced foreground, point of view, and eye level. For birds eye Seline was the one talking. For ants eye me (Ella) and Seline were the ones talking and Malia was the one in the shot. For low angle Malia and Seline were the ones talking. For high angle I was the one talking and Malia was in the shot. For flat angle Malia and Seline were the ones talking and I was in the shot. For macro Me and Seline were the ones talking. For ground level I was the one talking. For forced foreground me and Seline were the ones talking and Malia was in the shot. For point of view me and Malia were the ones talking. For eye level me and Seline were the ones talking and Seline was in the shot.

Cracking The Code

I do think that everyone should learn to code. I think this because coding is an important nessicity in life. Coding is also important to learn because it is basically the base of all computer-related things and now days these things have becoming more and more used and popular. Another reason everyone should learn to code is because later on in college they may talk about coding, no matter what field your in, and if you have already learned about it, it would be a piece of cake! Those are the reasons I think that everyone should know how to code.

My first experience with programing was in 6th grade at Hanalei Elementary School. We did a few exercises with characters like Elsa, Anna, Zombies and much more! We had to insert blocks such as turn left, turn right or move ahead. We also watched a few inspiring videos with famous people such as the creator of Twitter, the creator of Facebook and even an professional NBA player! At first I thought that it was going to be super hard but once I started to get the hang of it, it was fun and not to hard! I loved coding for the first time!

If I could create a game it would be a game called duck duck goose. In this game there are ducks flying by with a random goose in the line of ducks. You have to hit or tap the goose. When you do this the ducks start to move faster and faster as you go. When you pass each level you get coins and with those coins you can buy different types of geese and ducks or a different bat to hit the goose with. When you hit a duck you loose a coin. This is my game that I would create.

My Humorous Monolouge

BeckE_Comedy from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

I have learned many things from this project. First I learned how to work a Lumix camera: how to record or how to enhance the lighting. The second thing I learned was how to create a funny joke: how to create a punchline or material for the joke. The third thing I learned was how to import media into an imovie event. The fourth thing I learned was how to increase or decrease the size of the timeline in imovie. Finally I learned how to create a gif in photoshop.

Padding is extra footage at the begining and end of your video to make sure that nothing is cut off of your video. Padding also makes your videos flow together smoother. Padding your clips is crucial because if you don't pad your clips something like audio or action could be cut of. This is important because you may have to go back and redo the clip if there is no padding connected. Padding clips is a crucial thing to include in a video.

My biggest weakness was time to film the b-roll. This was a big weakness because without time you can't get anything done. I didn't have time because I am busy everyday of the week with soccer and other family things. Another weakness was the people in my video had almost no time. My strengths were experience with imovie editing. I have experience because in my school last year they taught us all about imovie. Ways for me to improve would be to plan a time to film the b-roll clips or to plan a time to film with others in the video.

Comedy Writing

A sense of humor is an important character trait. If you have a sense of humor you make people laugh and laughing is one of the things you need to do to have a great life. Also people with a sense of humor can cheer other people up if they are feeling down. That is important because making people happy is awesome! Finally it is important because if you have happy laughing people next to you, you will probably be happy as well!

There are many tips in writing a humorous narrative. One tip that I think is important in writing comedy is to make your writing relatable. If its not relatable people won't get it and they wont think it is as funny as you might. Another tip is to make sure its not to complicated for people to understand. Pretend that you are trying to get a kindergartener to understand it. Third tip is to use expression when talking. Fourth tip is to make sure your writing isn't offensive or inappropriate for anyone. Your final tip is to make sure your writing is actually funny! Test it out on a friend! Read it to them and ask for there honest opinion and suggestions.

My comedic monologue is basically about my mom telling me to clean my room. In the first and second line when it says "I hate it when my mom tells me to clean my room or make my bed because people are coming over for dinner. It’s like oh I didn't realize we would be eating off the floor in my room." it is funny because we won't be eating off the floor and because my room doesn't need to look nice if people are coming over because we wouldn't be in my room. In the last two lines when it says "Why can’t I get paid to clean my own room? I clean my room sometimesActually I never clean my room and I never will so never mind." it is funny because I state that I clean my room sometimes then I admit that I actually never clean my room and that I never will.

Motivational Poster

There are two types of requirements for your Motivational Poster, Layer Requirements and Design Requirements. In the Layer Requirements you have to have two text layers including one of your manifesto and the other of your personal quotes. In Layer Requirements you also have four image layers including three symbolic images that represent who you are and one portrait of your face. In Design Requirements you have to use kerning on both of your text layers all the way across the page so that there is no blank spaces or holes. You also have to use the triadic color scheme and visual balance to make the text appealing. Finally you have to use blending options on your text layers and adjustment layers on your four images.

First I copy and pasted my Personal Quotes and Manifesto into a text box. Then I went to finder and imported my three #GTSYMS and my portrait. Next I aligned my pictures to fit the screen in a creative way. Fourth I started to kern my text such as adjusting the spacing between letters and words. Next I started to use stoke to change the colors of the text. Then I used drop shadow and inner shadow to create a shadow of the text. Then I started to apply adjustment layers and blending options.

My biggest challenge in this project was to kern the text so that there is no open space. It was hard because sometimes if I made a word bigger to fit to the other side of the page it would put half of the word on the other line. It was also hard because I had two text layers and I had to find out how to make them fit together without overlapping them. I could improve by fitting the words to the edge of the page. I could also improve by making the two text layers fit against each other perfectly without overlapping.

Personal Manifesto

My name is Ella Beck and five interesting/unique facts about myself are that I am the youngest of four children in my family. I also like to play soccer. I play for NSFC which stands for North Shore Football Club. Another interesting fact about me is that I like to act. I have been in several plays held by Hanalei Elementary School. I also like to create crafty things such as artsy projects. Finally I like photography. My favorite thing to take pictures of is nature.

Live your life the way you want to, do what you love, chase what you dream and listen to your heart. Don't let anyone else tell you what to do or what to feel because you are an original, you were made for a reason, you were made to be great. You can do anything you want all you have to do is try, if something is hard don't quit just try harder. If you fail you just have to be strong and try again. Life is short believe in yourself and always remember that this is your life

My manifesto applies to my readers because it says to try and try again until you succeed and this class is not only about media but also about trying hard and never quitting. It also applies to my reader because it says to believe in yourself and if you don't believe in yourself then you cant get anything done. Another way this applies to my readers is because it says that we are original and we were made for a reason and we were all chosen to be in this class because we are all great and original.
